Cartoon scientists work with lasers and optics
10:00 am
The Logic of Light, Lasers, and Lenses
Presented by
Jeffrey Roth

How are lasers used in science? Where can you see optics in nature? Why is the sky blue?  What makes a rainbow? Join this fun demonstration to see how light can refract, diffract, scatter, and reflect. Find out about the many applications of lasers and light, from fiber optics to communications to medicine.  You'll be an optics expert after you:

  • Learn what a light wave is
  • See how light can be both a wave and a particle
  • Hear how sound waves differ from light waves
  • Discover the difference between regular particles and light particles

The show will include several live demos, and we need YOUR help to run them!  Come prepared to volunteer and participate --- or just watch and be en'light'ened!

This show will be presented LIVE and is best experienced in person. However, if you are unable to attend, visit this page again at the time of the event to view remotely. No registration is required to attend virtually. Simply join us using the zoom link found below.
